Golf Notes 17/8/20 – 23/8/20


Monday the Veterans played a stableford competition The winner was R Holland with 48 pts, runner up G Sorensen with 35 pts.  The ball run down went to T Richardson & D Beazley 33 pts followed by J Sippel, G Philp, D Forsyth & W Hill with 32 pts.   Pin shots went to D Beazley & G Philp while J Edwards & K Cook received the ladies.  The Encouragement Award went to T Lynch while J Edwards received by Members Draw.     Next week will be a single stableford competition.  Reminder the Scenic Rim Vets Day will be at Canungra on September 7.  No golf in Boonah that day for course renovations.


The winner of Laraine Gurnetts trophy was Barb Hamilton with 41 points.  The runner up was Kris Cook on a count back from Jo McAntee both having 37 points.  The pin on No, 4/13 was Barb Hamilton and on 8/17 was Ellen Meagher who was in the hole.  Jan Baulch won the accuracy shot.  Other scores were Anna Tomlinson 36, Vicki Bird 35, Juleen Sippel, Nicki Mulligan and Laraine Gurnett all had 34, Maureen Maynard,  Marg Kuhnemann 32 & Jan Baulch 30, Anne Brown 28, Di Kuhnemann 27 and Jan Edwards 24.  As the greens are being cored on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday 7th, 8th and 9th the course will be closed.  So Linda Edwards trophy will now be on the 16th September.  The next monthly meeting will be on the first Wednesday in the month 2nd September instead of the 9th.  If you want to know what is going on in the club come to the meetings.                                                         Good Golfing everyone from Birdie.


Wednesday the Sporters played the Glenn Sippel Memorial, sponsored by the QFS mates + D Forsyth playing a stableford 1-9 + 10, 14 & 15 competition.  The winner was M Hassan with 29 pts, runner up A Lutter with 28 pts ocb from K Ward.  The ball run down continued with M Fitzpatrick 27 pts and R Fitzgerald 25 pts.  The Dugandan Dice winner was W Wieland.  This week will be The Stan McCullough Memorial sponsored by G Eviston, playing a stableford 10-18 + 1, 5 & 6 competition.   Next week will sponsored by Boonah Business Supplies playing a stableford 1-9 + 10, 14 & 15 competition.

Friendly Friday:

Friendly Fridays’ had 9 players tee off playing a stableford back 9 competition.  The winner was H Perrem with 19 pts, runner up W Martin Snr followed by S Bailey with 16 pts.  The NAGA.was received by M  Crowther.


Saturday we played the Beasley Bash playing a single stroke competition sponsored by Jason from Boonah Panel Repairs.  The A Grade winner was W Martin Jnr with 70 net, runner up C Marschke ocb from K Sawtell with 71 net.  B Grade winner was A Hertweck with 68 net, runner up A Parker with 70 net followed by M Gnech with 72 net. C Grade winner was B Sampson with 66 net, runner up C Richardson ocb from T Richardson with 72 net. The Ladies winner was J McAntee ocb from runner up J Pfingst with 69 net, followed by E Meagher with 73 net ocb.  The ball run down went B May, W Maudsley & S Reid with 73 net, D Kuhnemann, C Shannon &  J Gurney 74 net and P Gerhardt,  R Philp, R Humphrey, J Grimsey, P Rabbit & M Tress with 75 net.  The NAGA’s were W Bird & A Tomlinson. The Social winner was G Andrews, runner up S Martin    The Pro Pin on 4 sponsored by Drummond Golf is currently held by W Bird with 2 cm.  The Pro Pin on 17 is sponsored by Sugarloaf Bakery and currently held by B King with 1.78 m.  This week will be Boonah Rotary Club Open Day playing a stableford competition.  This is a morning and afternoon shot gun start.  Next week will be the Graham Maynard Memorial sponsored by Maureen & Greg Maynard, playing a stableford competition.


Today both division 1 & 2 played Brisbane River.  Division 1 won 5/4.  Winners were T Grimshaw, J Browning, B Lawrance, K Wilson.  A Gill & W Martin squared.  Divison 2 lost 3/2 with the winners H Perrem & I Browning.


This Sunday we have a Social Club. Social Play will be available. Please ring and make a booking as we still have strick rules for the Corona Virus.
