Our Visitors Open Day last Thursday was a huge success with 67 players in the field. The weather was kind, the course was in excellent condition, thanks to our greens superintendent Cameron Crepin, and a big thank you to the members who lent golf carts and also the “bunker boys” who were on standby to rake the bunkers for the girls. We had visitors from Pacific, Mt Warren Park, Sandy Gallop, Gailes, Laidley, Stanthorpe, Toogoolawah, Beaudesert, Rosewood and Ipswich. Overall winner was our Vicki Bird with 40 stableford points. Division 1 (handicap 0-18) Winner Cris Van Daarlen – Beaudesert – 37 points; runner-up Jo McAntee – Boonah – 36; Division 2 (handicap 19-29) Winner Marg Kuhnemann – Boonah – 39; Runner-up Jennifer Sparkes – Stanthorpe – 38 on a countback from Loraine Edwards and Maureen Maynard; Division 3 (handicap 29-45) Winner Laraine Gurnett – Gailes – 36; runner-up Enid Faulkiner 35; Madam golfer was Enid Llewellyn. Pin shots: Division 1 on 4/13 Helen Gray; Division 2 on 8/17 second shot Jan Baulch; Division 3 on 8/17 second shot Diane Murakami. The club trophy day on the Wednesday was won by Maureen Maynard with 38, runner-up Linda Hooke 35 and the other players were Vicki Bird and Jo McAntee 30, Anne Brown and Marg Kuhnemann 29, a small field being the day before the Visitors day. Wednesday is monthly medal sponsored by North Point Motel and next Wednesday Juleen Sippel is our sponsor and it is also the 7th round of the consistency cup. Good golfing ladies and may all your putts drop in.
Wednesday the Sporters was sponsored by A Hertweck & G Searle playing a 4BBB stableford 10-18 + 1, 5 & 6 competition. The winners were M O’Reilly & J Gillett with 30 pts runners up A Stick & W Wieland 28 pts ocb. The ball run down went to D Forsyth & R Scells, G Searle & L Vandenbrink 28 pts followed by D Forsyth & B Brown 27 pts. A Skinner won the pin shot on both 13 & 17 while G Gray received 18. The Dugie dice sponsored by the Dugandan Hotel was won by G Gray. This week will be sponsored by J Potter playing a stableford 1-9 + 10, 14 & 15 competition. Friendly Fridays had 17 players tee off for a stableford back 9 competition. The winner was G Henderson with 22 pts, runner up G Philp ocb from M Hassan with 20 pts. The A Grade winner was B Beasley with 41 pts, runner up W Maudsley 39 pts followed by V Christensen 37 pts. This Sunday we held the MDGA Championships playing a stroke competition. Next Sunday we have a social club using all buggies. No Social play until they have competed their competition. Ring the club for further details.
